Best Fitness Apps for Frequent Travelers

Fitness routines and fitness apps designed for frequent travelers

This holiday season you are bound to not only be traveling more often than usual, but also indulging more than usual in your favorite holiday food and drinks. This combined with trying to visit with all of your friends and family can make staying on track with your normal fitness and eating routine quite difficult. So... to make it a bit easier on you we've put together a list of our favorite fitness apps to help keep you motivated no matter where you are.

#1 My Fitness Pal

This app is designed to help you manage not only your exercise routines but your weight loss goals as well by allowing you to record and track what you eat and how much your exercise.

With a vast library of foods, meals and beverages it's perfect for travelers who try all different foods, and track the calories. Then to balance out any indulgences the app also offers over 350 different workouts to record - enough to keep even the frequent traveler on track.

#2 Nike Training Club

What we like most about this app is that it offers a wide range of workouts that require zero equipment and that many of the routines are 30 to 45 minutes long, and some even as short as 15 minutes, which are both ideal for those who travel frequently. Plus you can choose between high, medium and low intensity options depending on how you feel that day - so even on your most relaxing of travel days you can find a routine that works for you.

#3 Map My Run

If you are like us then you'll agree that one of the best ways to explore a new destination is on foot...and if you can burn calories at the same time it's a win win. Which is why our experts suggest Map My Run as a must have app for fellow runners who like to explore new cities and destinations. The app not only tracks your miles but also helps you to locate running routes but also to help you identify local attractions while you are out and about burning calories.

This app offers both a free and a paid version, with the paid version offering more more detailed maps and training plans.

#4 Pocket Yoga

Don't worry yogis we haven't left you out! We know it's important to have a great balance between cardio, weightlifting and lower impact options - which is why we've added Pocket Yoga to our list of must have fitness apps to use while traveling. With over 200 different yoga poses this app is great for the beginner and experienced yogi alike.

#5 DailyBurn

What we love most about DailyBurn, other than the motivating trainers, is the community that comes along with the app allowing you 24/7 access to other app users to answer questions about which workouts they enjoy most and to keep you pumped up about your routine.

#6 Trailhead by North Face

If hiking is your workout routine of choice then you'll love this app - it will help you locate local trails for both hiking and biking and sort them based on location and length of the route.

No matter what your routine at home is, these apps are sure to keep you motivated and active while you are traveling. Do you have any favorite fitness apps? If so we'd love to hear about them in the comments section.
